On December 19th, 2016 my world was changed forever. My two beautiful sons, 13 year-old Ryder and 11 year-old Radek, were tragically and selfishly taken from this world far too soon.
Through this unthinkable tragedy I have not only seen my family and friends come together to support me but my entire community of Whitecourt, Alberta and the hockey community.
My two boys loved, perhaps that’s not a strong enough word, obsessed over the game of hockey. Whether it was playing it the basement, out on the street or at the arena, they were unbelievably passionate about the sport.
While they were fierce competitors with their opponents, they were even more known for being incredible teammates, always the first to support their teammates in their successes or failures. That’s just who they were.
With all that my community has given to me in this time, myself and my two boys would like to give something back.
The (Ryder and Radek) R & R Memorial Foundation would allow for under privileged children in Whitecourt the chance to play minor hockey that otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to do so. I think this is perfect way to keep their memory alive as it factors in their love of sport as well as giving back to those in need.
When my boys left this earth, it left a hole, not just in my life, but in our entire community and I truly believe this Scholarship will not only help fill that void left in our community but it will also keep their memory alive and thriving.
“R&R Memorial Foundation is planning to raise $10,000.00 this year on Fund-raising campaigns. It will cost our organization an estimate of $500.00 to raise this. The money raised will be going to help under privileged children in Whitecourt to play minor hockey. For more information, please contact Nathalie at 780-286-9119. Our address is Box 2525, Whitecourt, AB T7S 2A1 and we are incorporated in Whitecourt, Alberta”
